The award-winning lamp designed to stop ocean pollution at the ‘sauce’ with a recycled ocean-bound plastic shade.

Heliograf is an award-winning collaboration of Angus Ware and Jeffrey Simpson, based in Sydney, Australia.

Their debut product Light Soy is a statement on the iconic single-use soy fish. The cute little soy fish are an environmental disaster and lethal to marine life – ironic given their shape. They are emblematic of a broken economic model that doesn’t consider waste.

Angus and Jeffrey live on the coast and have seen first-hand the shocking impact plastic is having on our oceans. We set out to create a design object that highlighted single-use plastic and made a difference.

After four years of design and development, the result is Light Soy – a playful, functional and purposeful lamp now made with ocean-bound plastic.

Heliograf Sustainability

Design
We design our products with environmental footprint, resources, reuse and recycling at heart, inspired by the circular economy model.

Ocean-bound plastic
Light Soy’s shade is made from 75% recycled ocean-bound plastic, and we are working towards 100% ocean-bound plastic in all our products.

Supporting cleanups
We fund the cleanup of an additional 2kg of ocean-bound plastic for every lamp sold.

Sustainable packaging
We use biodegradable, plastic-free materials for all our packaging and design to minimise waste whenever possible.
